
Dr. Butler Cain is chair of the Department of Communications and special assistant to the Senior Vice Provost for International Affairs at the University of North Alabama.
Dr. Cain received a Ph.D. in Communication and Information Sciences with a concentration in Media History (’07) from the University of Alabama. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Policy Management (’21) from Kennesaw State University. Before transitioning into higher education, Dr. Cain spent many years working professionally as a broadcast journalist, including a decade as news director of Alabama Public Radio.
Dr. Cain is a member of the Rotary Club of Florence, Alabama, adviser to the Rotaract Club of University of North Alabama, and serves as 2020-2021 chair of the Rotary District 6860 Peace Fellowships committee. He is a member of the Fulbright Specialist Roster and a former expat educator who taught English language writing and speaking skills in Seoul, South Korea. Dr. Cain is also a partner in Hunt-Cain & Associates, LLC, which specializes in education, civic, and corporate consulting.
