Favorite Photo Story: Mt. Namsan in Seoul, South Korea

Location: Seoul, South Korea

Date: December 2009

View of Seoul, South Korea from Mt. Namsan

I had the day off work on a mid-December day and decided to spend it walking through my neighborhood of Itaewon and its surroundings. I had lived in Seoul more than 10 months, and my fifth-floor apartment in that neighborhood still ranks as one of my top two favorite apartments. The sliding glass door to the back deck had a wonderful view of Mt. Namsan and N Seoul Tower, and on this day, I decided to spend some time wandering through Namsan Park.

I took this picture because I liked the mix of urban and nature the scene provided, and I used the trees for framing. Off in the distance is one of Seoul’s most famous districts, Gangnam, where one of the country’s most recognizable buildings, the Trade Tower, dominates the skyline. I worked a few blocks from there.
