Boston: Ships and Asian Art

I enjoy touring historical sites and museums when I travel, so I couldn’t pass up seeing “Old Ironsides,” the USS Constitution. The ship is currently in dry dock and closed to tours, but it was still impressive.

Both the USS Constitution and the USS Cassin Young are on display in the Charlestown Navy Yard. I was partial to the USS Cassin Young‘s radio room.

My wanderings took me to the Museum of Fine Arts later that day, and I was particularly interested in seeing what promised to be a really cool exhibit: Megacities Asia. Regular blog readers might recall that I lived in South Korea several years ago and have traveled to Asia fairly frequently during the past four years. Megacities Asia did not disappoint; it was a terrific experience.

I’ll share a few of the exhibits I found interesting, and a photo of the artist’s information follows each exhibit.

Bonus Photo!

I studied American media history in graduate school, so I had a little geek out moment when I saw this on the side of a Boston building.
