I’m sure several members of the United Kingdom’s royal family are fine folks. I just don’t care much to keep up with what they’re doing, that’s all.
However, I made an exception when I discovered that The Royal Yacht Britannia, which served as both home and transportation for the queen and royal family for more than four decades, is now permanently berthed in Edinburgh. I wandered down to Ocean Terminal in Leith (a fine shopping spot, by the way) to check it out.
There’s a fee but the tour is self guided, so that makes it easy to maintain a pace that’s comfortable for you. I recommend it, even for you non-royal watchers. It offers a fascinating glimpse into British naval history.
