Plzeň, Czech Republic

If you are an aficionado of quality beer, you might recognize Plzeň as the home of Pilsner Urquell, which was first brewed in 1842 and is the original Pilsner-style beer. When I visited Plzeň (also spelled Pilsen) in 2008, I took a tour of the brewery (which was awesome). This is a picture of the entrance.

I really enjoyed my several days in this city, and all of the following photographs are from my wanderings around.

These next few photos are of St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral. Its construction dates back to the late 13th Century and was completed in the 15th Century. On one side of the church, there’s a railing that contains depictions of angels’ faces, and you’ll notice that one has been rubbed so much it has lost its original look. Legend says rubbing that angel will bring good luck.
