Alabama’s Noccalula Falls

Noccalula Falls is among the many beautiful natural landscapes northeast Alabama offers. Located on Lookout Mountain in Gadsden, it’s situated on the Lookout Mountain Parkway, which stretches across Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.

I spent five years living in the Gadsden area as a teenager, and I didn’t visit as much as I should have. These photos were taken in late December, and judging by the size of the waterfall, it’s apparent the area has received a decent amount of rain recently.

Noccalula Falls comes with its own legend. It’s a nice story, but a healthy dose of historical skepticism wouldn’t be a bad idea. You’ll see a statue of Princess Noccalula in a couple of the photographs below.
